Jacob Elordiโs experience on Wuthering Heightsย wasnโt always euphoric.
Indeed, in the early days of shooting the film adaptation of Emily Brontรซโs novel, the actorโwho stars as the filmโs antihero Heathcliffโhad to be briefly hospitalized.
โSiรขn Miller, the make-up artist, was designing the scars from the whips for Heathcliffโs back. She challenged me: โIf Daniel Day-Lewisย was playing Heathcliff, he would have come in with scars,โโ Jacob shared with the filmโs director Emerald Fennellย in an interview with Esquireย published Jan. 30. โI said, โWell Iโm going to go away and maim myself on the weekend to prove to you that Iโm Heathcliff!โโ
And while the idea of going โmethodโ was a joke, Jacob didย endย up suffering an injury off-camera.
โThat night I went home, and the house I was staying in had a steam shower: a brass knob that steam came from out of the wall,โ he said. โI was sitting on the floor of the showerโฆAs Heathcliff, I was covered in mange and dirt, and I thought, โIโm not going to do that again, Iโm going to clean my feet properly every night and come in to work fresh the next day.โโ
