The U.K.โs National Crime Agency (NCA) said on Wednesday that a man was arrested in connection to the ransomware attack that has caused delays and disruptions at several European airports since the weekend. ย
The hack targeted check-in systems provided by Collins Aerospace on Friday, causing delays at Brussels, Berlin, Dublin, and Londonโs Heathrow airport, which lasted until yesterday. ย
While the NCA did not name the man, it said he is โin his fortiesโ and that he was arrested in the southern county of West Sussex on Tuesday.ย The man has been released on conditional bail, the agency said.
โAlthough this arrest is a positive step, the investigation into this incident is in its early stages and remains ongoing,โ said Paul Foster, deputy director and head of the NCAโs National Cyber Crime Unit.ย
NCA spokesperson Richard Crowe told TechCrunch that the agency had nothing else to add to the press release.
