Escherichia coliย (E. coli) is described as a group of bacteria that can infect the gut, urinary tract and other areas of the body, according to the Cleveland Clinic. While it can often live in the gut without issue, it can occasionally lead to diarrhea, vomiting, stomach cramps and fever.
