Charlie Kirk Shooting: Chris Pratt, Savannah Chrisley, Jimmy Kimmel and More React
Jimmy Kimmelโs late night show is taking a break.
An ABC spokesperson confirmed to NBC News Sept. 17 that Jimmy Kimmel Live! โwill be pre-empted indefinitelyโ following the late night hostโs Sept. 15 monologue, which included comments about conservative activist Charlie Kirkโs suspected killer.
โThe MAGA gang [is] desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them,โ Kimmel said on the show, โand doing everything they can to score political points from it.โ
Tyler Robinson, 22, was taken into custody Sept. 12 after authorities said he turned himself in. He was then charged with aggravated murder over the fatal shooting of Kirk, 31, at Utah Valley University Sept. 10. Since his arrest, authorities released alleged text messages from Robinson in which he said he targeted Kirk because he โhad enough of his hatred.โ
In a Sept. 17 interview, Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr described Kimmelโs monologue as โthe sickest conduct possibleโ and threatened to โtake actionโ against ABC and its parent company Disney, noting that the FCC had the authority to revoke ABC affiliate licenses.ย
