Billy Joel may be the piano man, but he wonโt be singing his song tonight.
The 75-year-old revealed he is currently recovering from a recent medical procedure and has postponed eight of his upcoming concert stops, in some cases by over a year.
โBilly Joelโs upcoming concert dates will be rescheduled due to a medical condition,โ a statement shared to the musicianโs Instagram March 11 read. โThe current tour will be postponed for four months to allow him to recover from recent surgery and to undergo physical therapy under the supervision of his doctors.โ
For his part, Joel, who said he is expected to make a full recovery from the undisclosed procedure, shared his sadness at having to reschedule his tour dates.
โWhile I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first,โ he added in the statement. โI look forward to getting back on stage and sharing the joy of live music with our amazing fans. Thank you for your understanding.โ
And while Joelโwhose upcoming dates also feature Stevie Nicks and Stingโmost recently performed on Feb. 8 and Feb. 22, his newly-announced postponements arenโt the only shows this year where the โUptown Girlโ singer has had to adjust his scheduled performances. In fact, he revealed another delay in January due to a medical procedure.ย
