Newsletter platformย beehiivย announced a massive expansion to its platform on Thursday,ย including offering real-time analytics and AI website creation, among other things.ย ย
In a video announcing the release, Tyler Denk, the co-founder and CEO ofย Beehiiv, said that what makes newsletter platforms powerful is ownership.ย ย
โOwning your audience, distribution, brand, and even your revenue potential,โ he said. โIn the age of AI and algorithms. Ownershipย isnโtย just nice to have,ย itโsย essential.โย
The hope is to further give creatorsย (and journalists)ย more control โ and opportunities โ to expand and grow their businessesย on the platform.ย ย
The full product expansion includes:ย ย
- ย Allowing creators to sell digital products, such asย ebooks,ย withoutย beehiivย receivingย commissions.ย Next year, creators will soon be able to sell courses and merchandise.ย ย
ย
- A feature that lets creators build websites using AI without the use of sophisticatedย code or developers.ย Aย versionย product was actually launched a few months ago and followedย Beehiivโsย acquisitionย of theย AIย website builderย Typedreamย last year.ย ย
ย
Thursdayโs announcement revealed the product now lets users build full websites by simply chatting with AI โย or,ย vibeย codeย a website.ย However, usersย donโtย need to simply talk in words to theย AI;ย they can also drag and drop images, for example, upload imagesย or screenshots of other peopleโs websitesย to the AI, and haveย itย recreateย them.ย ย
ย
- The ability to host and release podcasts on aย creatorโsย respectiveย beehiiveย platform. This lets creatorsย putย their podcasts, newsletters, and websites under one platform, rather than having threeย separateย ones.ย ย
ย
- Real-time analytics to track engagement and traffic,ย in addition to a breakdown of what channelsย driveย the most usersย ย
ย
- Offeringย โlink in bio,โ so creators can link toย other digital platforms, asย well asย theirย ownย beehiivย creations, without having to use a third-party link in bio company.ย ย
ย
- Offeringย professionally designed websiteย templates, so that the website and newsletters look moreย high-quality.ย Itโsย also releasing newsletter templates so that websites and newsletters can have aย cohesive brand look.ย ย
ย
- The ability to audience segmentย โ meaning creators can create specific content for specific segments of their audience. Creators canย nowย group followers byย location, age, or even gender.ย ย
ย
- Automated workflows,ย for example,ย when a user subscribes, creators can set it up so that a welcome email is automatically sent to them.ย beehiivย startedย releasing features of automated workflows a few weeks ago.ย ย
ย
- Enhancedย advertiserย tools, including easierย browsingย of ad opportunities andย seeingย estimated payouts.ย Denk said that creators can upload assets,ย setย a budget, and launch campaigns on the platform.ย Beehiivย also has a new ad dashboard, letting creators track the performanceย of their campaignsย and build their own custom reports,ย he continued.ย ย
ย
- Paid subscriptions, without any fees taken byย beehiiveย (it says it is the only platform thatย doesnโtย take a cut of paid subscription revenue). The feature comes with subscriptionย tiers andย analytics.ย ย
Beehiivย now considers itself the first platform to encapsulate the entire content creation workflow,ย as users on the platform can โcreate, publish, grow, analyze, and monetize,โ without fees, plugins, code, or giving up equity.ย ย
ย
In the video, Denk said thatย beehiivย is no longer just a newsletter platform, but rather the operating system for the creator economy.ย With this expansion,ย itย hopes to compete with the likes of Lovable, WordPress, and Patreon.ย ย
The company was founded in 2021 and says that since then, it has sent more than 35 billion emails, with more than 55,000 creators on the platform, including Oliver Darcy with Status.ย ย
