Diane Keaton Health Before Death: Skin Cancer, Bulimia Battles

The Family Stone star would eat 20,000 calories a day, only to throw up, saying, โ€œTypical dinner was a bucket of chicken, several orders of fries with blue cheese and ketchup, a couple TV dinners, a quart of soda, pounds of candy, a whole cake and three banana cream pies.โ€

Keaton eventually got into recovery for her eating disorder.

โ€œSomebody mentioned that I seemed to have some mental issues, so I went to an analyst,” she said. “I would go five days a week.โ€

And while she admitted to initially lying to her specialist, Keatonโ€”who adopted daughterย Dexter, 29, and sonย Duke, 25, in her 50sโ€”went on to get candid about her struggles.

โ€œI have nothing to hide. Itโ€™s not relevant, but for me it feels good,โ€ she wrote in her 2011 book Then Again, per the NY Daily News. โ€œI think Iโ€™m a sister to all the rest of the women, and Iโ€™m sure men as well, who have had some kind of eating disorder, and Iโ€™m a part of the team.โ€
