Whatโs in a name change?
For nearly a decadeย Aubrey Anderson-Emmonsย graced TV screens as the wise-cracking Lily Tucker-Pritchett onย Modern Family.ย However as the 18-year-old embarks on her journey as a musician, sheโs doing so with a new moniker:ย Frances Anderson.ย
โFrances is actually part of my legal nameโitโs my middle name, and itโs after my momโs old family friend,โ she recently told E! News ahead of August 8 release of herย EP Drown. โI thought, one, it was bit shorter than Aubrey Anderson-Emmons. I do have a long, hyphenated last name.โ
But that wasnโt the only motivator for the name change. โI wanted to switch it up and I wanted people to see aย new side of me,โ Frances continued. โI wanted to create a space, specifically just for music. And Iโm so excited for everybody to hear the songs on the EP, and Iโm so grateful.โย
Of course, the teen is far from the only star to go by a different name professionally.
